ICC has announced the player of the month award for the month of December 2022. In the men’s category, this award was won by England’s young cricketer Harry Brook and in the women’s category the award goes to Australian allrounder Ashleigh Gardner.
Brook has got this award for his outstanding performance on an incredible tour of Pakistan. The 23-year-old played an important role in England’s 3–0 win in the test series over Pakistan. England dominated on their return to play Test cricket on Pakistan soil after 17 years.
He scored 468 runs, the highest series total by an England batter in Pakistan, at an average of 93.60 and at a strike rate of 93.41 in the series with a ton in each match. Initially, this record was with David Gower who scored 449 runs in 1984. Harry Brook also equals Mohammad Yousuf’s record of three tons in successive matches in an overseas series.
Harry Brook was shortlisted with Pakistan’s Babar Azam and and Australia’s Travis Head, Harry Brook beat the two to grab the award.
Brook was also bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad, in an IPL auction, for a huge 13.25CR.
