Louisiana-Lafayette wide receiver Michael Jefferson got injured in a car accident. According to an ESPN report citing Jefferson’s agent, he sustained injuries that require multiple surgeries after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash. The accident happened on U.S. 43 in Mobile County, Alabama at around 7:55 PM. A 55-year-old man, who was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger, collided head-on with Jefferson’s 2019 Chevrolet Impala and a 2008 Nissan Maxima also struck the Dodge.The driver of the Dodge, officials tell us, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Jefferson measured 6-foot-4 and weighed 205 pounds. He ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash and had a 37-inch vertical jump. His athletic testing, combined with a senior year in which he caught 51 passes for 810 yards and seven touchdowns, positioned him as a potential Day 3 draft selection. Throughout his college career, Jefferson scored a total of 29 touchdowns.
