In a setback for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2023 season due to a heel injury. The 29-year-old was expected to join the team in the second half of the tournament after undergoing rehab at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, after extensive medical evaluation, it has been determined that he will not be fit to play in this year’s competition.
Patidar was a standout performer for RCB in IPL 2022, scoring 333 runs at an impressive strike rate of 152.75. He played a crucial role in the team’s campaign, including a century in the Eliminator against the Lucknow Super Giants and a half-century in the following game against the Rajasthan Royals. His performances earned him a maiden international call-up, although he is yet to make his debut.
