Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes Launches His Own NFT Platform

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a two-time Super Bowl champion and MVP, is making another significant move in the NFT space. Following his initial foray into NFTs in 2021, Mahomes is now launching his own NFT platform, the Museum of Mahomes.

The platform is set to debut its first collectibles in September, offering digital collectibles as NFTs. Some of these will be tied to real-world perks such as game-worn items, physical trading cards, autographed jerseys and footballs, and more. The “Museum of Mahomes II” collection will feature 15,000 NFTs, with artwork inspired by Mahomes’ NFL career to date. The specific network for minting the NFTs and the price for the collectibles have yet to be revealed.

Mahomes first dropped his own NFTs in March 2021, which resulted in $3.7 million worth of sales as the NFT space started to gain traction. Owners of those original NFTs will be able to claim physical versions of their collectibles, signed by Mahomes himself.

His previous 2021 drop also used the “Museum of Mahomes” branding but was hosted on MakersPlace, a broader Ethereum NFT marketplace and platform. With this new initiative, Mahomes is launching his own dedicated platform. The project is led by digital agency D-O-M, which was also involved in the earlier drop.

A portion of the proceeds from NFT sales will benefit Mahomes’ 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, which aims to support children in underserved communities through various initiatives.

“I am excited to offer physical replicas to holders of the Museum of Mahomes I collection and do some good in the world with the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation as a part of the Museum of Mahomes II release,” said Mahomes.

While Mahomes is venturing out on his own with NFTs, he has also been the face of Dapper Labs’ NFL All Day, serving as an official spokesperson when that digital collectibles platform opened to the public last August.
