Archer and Rashid lead the bowling effort

England were bowled out for 251 in 48 overs, but the total proved more than enough once their bowlers found rhythm. Adil Rashid took 4/35 from 7.3 overs, while Jofra Archer claimed 3/34. Jamie Overton supported the attack with 2/33.

Western Australia had made a promising start at 60/1 in the 12th over, but wickets fell quickly once England introduced spin and pace changes. The home side were dismissed for 159 in 32.3 overs.

Lance Morris makes a welcome return

The warm-up also offered a positive moment for Western Australia. Lance Morris was playing his first match for the state in 20 months after recovering from a serious back injury. He returned figures of 3/29 from 10 overs, giving Australia an encouraging sign about his progress.

Australia vs England: ODI series begins November 13

The warm-up is part of England’s preparation for a three-match ODI series against Australia. The first match is scheduled for Friday, November 13 at Perth Stadium, followed by games in Adelaide on November 15 and Hobart on November 18.

Australia will be without several frontline quicks

Australia’s ODI squad does not include Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc or Josh Hazlewood, who are being rested as they prepare for upcoming Test assignments. Nathan Ellis is also unavailable for the ODI leg while recovering from a side strain. Mitchell Marsh will captain the side, with new faces including Mahli Beardman, Jack Edwards and Liam Scott in the squad.

England’s 16-player ODI squad is led by Harry Brook and includes Jofra Archer, Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid. The selectors will use the series as part of preparations for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.

Sportimatic takeaway: England’s 92-run warm-up win provides momentum, especially with Archer and Rashid back in the attack. Australia’s missing senior quicks create an opportunity for its younger bowlers to establish themselves before the first ODI in Perth.
