The Indianapolis Colts will be without tight end Tyler Warren, cornerback Sauce Gardner and wide receiver Anthony Gould against the Minnesota Vikings after head coach Shane Steichen ruled all three out Friday. The absences affect both the passing game and the secondary ahead of Sunday’s Week 7 matchup.

Warren is sidelined by a groin injury, Gardner by a calf injury and Gould by a concussion, according to the Colts’ official update. Indianapolis is scheduled to face Minnesota at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 25, at 1 p.m. ET.

This is no longer a “game-time decision” story: the Colts officially ruled Warren, Gardner and Gould out for Week 7.

Warren’s absence changes the tight-end rotation

Warren’s injury has already cost him time. With the rookie unavailable again, Indianapolis will need its remaining tight ends to divide his snaps, routes and blocking responsibilities. That can change how the offense handles third downs and red-zone packages, even if the playbook itself remains the same.

The Colts can spread targets among their available receivers and tight ends, but the role is not always replaced by one player. The immediate question is how the staff distributes the snaps while keeping the offense balanced and protecting quarterback Daniel Jones from obvious passing situations.

Gardner’s absence puts pressure on the secondary

Gardner’s calf injury removes a key option from the defensive backfield. Without him, Indianapolis may need to reshuffle cornerback assignments and lean more on the remaining defensive backs to cover outside routes. That can affect how aggressively the defense calls coverage and how long its pass rush has to reach the quarterback.

The adjustment will be especially important against a Minnesota offense playing at home. Communication and tackling become more valuable when a defense has to change its usual matchups. The Colts will need to prevent easy completions and explosive plays rather than expecting pressure alone to cover every gap.

Gould also ruled out

Gould’s concussion adds another absence to the special-teams and receiver groups. The official Colts report also provided status updates on linebackers C.J. Allen and Bryce Boettcher and punter Rigoberto Sanchez. Those designations should be checked against the final inactive list before kickoff; they are separate from the three confirmed outs.

  • Tyler Warren: out — groin.
  • Sauce Gardner: out — calf.
  • Anthony Gould: out — concussion.
  • Other players: monitor the Colts’ final injury report and inactives for any late status changes.

What it means for Colts–Vikings

Indianapolis enters Week 7 at 2–4 after losing to Tennessee in Week 6. The three absences make Sunday’s assignment harder, but injury reports are not score predictions. The Colts’ most immediate tasks are to limit mistakes, maintain offensive balance and ensure the defensive backfield communicates well despite the changes.

The next key checkpoint is the official inactive list, released shortly before kickoff. It will confirm the final availability of players whose status has not already been decided.
