Seahawks 13, Patriots 10: The Banner Night Survived Darnold — and Maye
Seattle raised the banner. Then it lost the starter. Then it won the rematch anyway.
Final: Seahawks 13, Patriots 10.
Sam Darnold lasted five snaps. A hip. Drew Lock finished the night. Drake Maye threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter. Josh Jobe caught the last one in the end zone with 21 seconds left.
How the first score of 2026 happened
New England had the half. Ugly yards. Then a flag.
A.J. Brown got over the top on a flea flicker. Jobe was called for pass interference. Next play, Maye found rookie tight end Eli Raridon from 2 yards. First touchdown of the season.
Andy Borregales hit a 50-yarder early in the third. Patriots 10, Seahawks 0. The building that came to celebrate a title was watching a backup and a 10-point hole.
What happened to Sam Darnold
Dre’Mont Jones sacked him on the first drive. Darnold limped to the tent, then the tunnel. Hip. Out for the night. Mike Macdonald said after the game there was no fracture. More tests come next.
Lock went 16-of-22 for 187 yards and the throw that tied it. That is the football sentence. The medical sentence is still open.
The fourth quarter flipped the rematch
Jason Myers made it 10-3 late in the third.
Then the picks started. Nehemiah Pritchett intercepted Maye. On fourth-and-1, Lock hit Jaxon Smith-Njigba for 45 yards. Tie game. Smith-Njigba finished with eight catches, 122 yards, the score.
Julian Love picked Maye on the next series. Myers from 26 yards, 5:50 left. Seattle 13-10.
Maye still drove into range. New England went for the win, not overtime. Jobe — the same corner who had gifted the first touchdown with a flag — toe-tapped an interception in the end zone.
Maye’s line: 23-of-33, 178 yards, one touchdown, three interceptions. All three picks in the fourth.

What it means
This was not February. February was 29-13 and a pick-six that ended the argument. This was 10-0 Seattle deficit, a backup quarterback, and a defense that stole the last 15 minutes.
A.J. Brown left in the third with an ankle and did not return. TreVeyon Henderson was already out. New England had the lead and the ball late and still lost the rematch on the road.
Seattle is 1-0 with a question at quarterback. New England is 0-1 with a question at closer.
